Many of you Louisvillians have passed by Billy Goat Strut as you headed in or out of NuLu, but did you ever stop to think what the deal was with that name?
It actually comes from a time when there was actual goat racing in the alley at 600 East Main where the Billy Goat Strut condos are and Angel's Envy's tanks are located in a stretch of the alley, too.
Angel's Envy's website makdes note that there were actually "Two alleys ran parallel to Main Street: Billy Goat Strut to the north and Nanny Goat Strut to the south. Each alley featured races featuring their respective namesakes. So why goat racing? No idea, really, but it must have been a hell of a thing to see."
