Deo gratiam habeamus is the Kentucky state Latin motto, meaning "Let us be grateful to God."

How did that come about? Like this: In March 2002, Tom RIner (House District 41, Jefferson) and Stan Lee (House District 45, Fayette) introduced House Bill No. 857 proposing that the motto Deo Gratiam Habeamus be adopted as the official Latin motto of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, accurately expressing a sentiment stated in the Preamble to Kentucky's constitution. Thank you, Tom and Stan -- we couldn't have said it any better.

If you'd like to praise God as you drink your morning coffee, this might be a welcome addition to your desk.
